Durga Bhajan - The Story Behind This Indian Myth
Durga Bhajan is the second book of the series. This book has a lot of twists and turns. It is the story of Sita, daughter of King Vatsyayana, who has come to live in the house of her foster father.
Sita is a daughter of Brahma and was brought up in the family of Brahma. Her foster father is a great ascetic and is the chief of Brahma's army. She belongs to an aristocratic family and is the first daughter.
She had a difficult time when she entered the house of Brahma because of her deformities. Brahma did not care about her as a person and he treated her badly. The first time that Sita met a Hindu, she was married to a Brahman.
But soon she fell out with Brahma and got in touch with her father. Brahma promised her that he would teach Sita the Bhagvan. He told her that she could become a queen and rule the whole world if she obeyed him.
Sita accepted this offer and Brahma sent her away. However, she did not forget him even after being away from his home.
She got married to a king who belonged to another king but was Brahma's brother. Brahma did not like this and had to do something about it. He decided that he should have a son. As the result, he started his search for a good candidate who might be able to fulfill the role. He looked for good candidates. He contacted a holy man named Jiva (Jivaji) who was very close to Brahma and was also a priest.
Jiva told Brahma about a girl called Sita, whom he said had been born from the king of Lanka. She was extremely beautiful and Brahma was so impressed by her beauty that he had the girl to marry him.
Brahma was so happy that he ordered that Sita is given a royal name. So she became Princess Sita and became the Queen of Lanka. She was married off to a king and was very proud of her position.
There was no one around who could stop her from doing anything she pleased. She ruled the entire country very effectively and maintained peace in Lanka. Jiva was not allowed to enter her inner sanctum because of her royal status and her position.
Brahma was so pleased with the way Sita ruled her kingdom that he promised her all kinds of gifts. He told her that when she got married she should give him a piece of land on which he could live in paradise. Sita agreed and the king built a magnificent palace for him there.
When the time of Brahma's death arrived, his daughter died and became a saint. Her father was cremated and the palace was burnt down. Brahma had her cremated at the same place where she was cremated.
